Sacred Heart Scholarships
Mater Merit Scholarship
In honor of Virginia Kratage Antakli ’56, the Virginia Antakli Mater Merit Scholarship is given to a junior who models the attributes of Mater Admirabilis and the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education. The junior class votes for the student they believe most possesses the virtues of Mater: a faith-centered life with demonstrated attributes of prayer, service and academic diligence. This year, we are pleased to present this award to Reagan Beatty.

Wansboro Merit Scholarship
Each year a Wansboro Merit Scholarship is awarded a student in the junior class who best exemplifies the aspirations for all Sacred Heart students. It is based on academic achievement, service to others, and loyalty to Sacred Heart. This year, we are pleased that this award is presented to Avery McNally.

Lifers
The essence of being a "Lifer" at Academy of the Sacred Heart is growing up as a Child of the Sacred Heart in each season of childhood, from PreK through graduation. A longstanding Prize Day tradition is for Lifers to reflect on their collective wisdom and memories from their time in Primary, Lower School, Middle School for Girls and the Upper School.
Course Prizes
Faculty members have identified the following students for prizes, a 200-year tradition that began in the earliest of Sacred Heart schools. In former days, prizes usually consisted of books; now, they are often certificates. A student may be recognized by a faculty member for a number of reasons, including effort, improvement, and high achievement.

Goal Awards
The Goals and their associated Criteria articulate the essence of a Sacred Heart school in the United States and Canada. The commitment to educate to these five Goals defines a Sacred Heart school and binds it in a common mission to the other 23 Network Sacred Heart Schools. Seniors, identified by the faculty, who best exemplify these Goals are now recognized.
Sacred Heart Award
In 1991 when their daughter, Claudia, died suddenly, the Bellaimey family, whose daughters attended the Academy in the 1970s, wanted to do something special in her memory. They chose to honor Claudia by creating an award that celebrates the graduating student who best exemplifies the Goals and Criteria and to make something tangible to pass on from recipient to recipient each year.
Mrs. Bellaimey, whose family made stained glass windows for a hundred and fifty years in Detroit, designed and made the stained glass hanging depicting hands of the world's races – our Sacred Heart Network – reaching up toward God, but equally reaching down to help the littlest among us. The graduating senior who receives the Sacred Heart Award takes it with her to college, and, when asked about it, can tell the story of her Sacred Heart education.
